"Shark Whisperer" IndieGoGo campaign

“Shark Whisperer” the first feature film to show sharks in a positive light embarks on it's first crowd-funding campaign.

While films from “Jaws” to “Sharknado” continue to perpetrate the myth of sharks as mindless man-eaters, “Shark Whisperer” will be the first film ever to show sharks in a positive light and give them the respect that they deserve as the essential apex predator of the sea.

“Shark Whisperer” is the story of of a young girl who befriends with a ten-foot tiger shark and begins an extraordinary inter-species relationship with the most feared predator in the sea. This friendship ultimately requires her to stand up against the head of a powerful commercial fishing organization that profits from the illegal shark-finning trade.

Though Shark Whisperer is a fictional film, it exposes the largely illegal and critical environmental issue of “shark-finning” which claims the lives of tens of millions of sharks each year for little more than a bowl of soup. This unsustainable worldwide slaughter of sharks will have a devastating effect on ocean ecology if it continues unchecked. “Shark Whisperer” will bring that reality to public attention.

According to underwater filmmaker George Monteiro, the film’s writer/director “Documentaries can change minds but fictional features can change hearts. It was fictional movies like “Flipper” and “Free Willy” that taught generations of filmgoers to love and respect dolphins and whales, With “Shark Whisperer” we hope to do the same for sharks, the most misunderstood and maligned creature in the sea.

George is working with some of the most noted experts in the area of shark diving and shark conservation Stuart Cove of Stuart Cove’s Dive Bahamas the filming headquarters for countless feature films and Shark Week episodes, Spencer Slate, world renowned underwater wildlife handler.

Shark Whisperer, it’s not just a film, it is a cause! Therefore we are hosting our crowd funding campaign on IndieGoGo and using resources such as to help drive targeted traffic to the site in hopes of raising funds for the film and raising awareness for this important environmental cause.
